Xcode XCFramework signature invalid or untrusted
Identify whether a downloaded binary changed, lost its signature, or was signed by a different distributor.
Identify whether a downloaded binary changed, lost its signature, or was signed by a different distributor.
Try these fixes in order
Read the verifier message
Record the package and framework version, certificate team, and exact signature diagnostic.
Verify origin
Compare the artifact and checksum with the vendor’s release; do not disable verification merely to accept an unknown binary.
Check update history
A newly signed version may require explicit trust of a different developer identity.
Obtain a valid build
Ask the vendor for a correctly signed artifact if the signature was stripped or invalidated after distribution.
Interpret what you see
A vendor update changes signing team
What it suggests: The new artifact’s origin needs verification.
Next check: Compare the distributor’s release and expected signing identity before accepting it.
The same artifact was repackaged locally
What it suggests: Modifying a signed XCFramework can invalidate its signature.
Next check: Obtain the original release archive and avoid altering its signed contents.
Only one machine rejects the artifact
What it suggests: Its cached copy may differ or have been damaged.
Next check: Compare checksums with the verified source and fetch a fresh copy after preserving the diagnostic.
Why this happens
- The binary was modified after signing.
- The framework update is signed by an unexpected identity.
Still not working?
Signature validation protects dependency provenance; a random re-sign can obscure the real source of the binary.
